Choose manual if
- You want a licence that lets you drive any car.
- You enjoy being fully in control of the car.
- You are happy to put in a few more lessons to master the clutch and gears.
Choose automatic if
- Gears and clutch control feel stressful or overwhelming.
- You want to reach test standard as efficiently as possible.
- You mainly plan to drive automatic or electric cars.
One thing to remember
A manual licence covers both manual and automatic cars. An automatic licence covers automatics and electrics only. With more new cars going electric, automatic is a more future-proof choice than it used to be.
