Two questions. One on each side of setting off.
One “tell me”, before you drive
The examiner asks you to explain how you would carry out a safety task. You answer in words.
One “show me”, while you drive
They ask you to demonstrate a control while driving. You can say “when it’s safe” and do it once you are in a safe position.
Get one or both wrong
That is one minor (driving) fault. Driving dangerously while doing the “show me” is a serious fault and a fail.
Same for manual & automatic
The questions are identical. Only where the controls live in the car changes.
The 14 'tell me' questions
Tell Me, asked before you drive.
Tap any card to reveal the model answer. Cards marked open the bonnet are the under-the-bonnet checks.
The 7 'show me' questions
Show Me, demonstrated while driving.
Remember: you can say 'when it's safe' and carry out the action once you are in a safe position. Keeping control of the car always comes first.
